I'm glad you're here!

Hello, I'm Amanda (she/her), a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#134108). My theoretical foundation is rooted in the quality of relationships, and how our attachments shape our experiences in the world. Whether it be a relationship with a coworker, a romantic partner, a family member, or with ourselves, I believe the way we show up in one relationship transcends to all others.

In my work with clients, I prioritize the therapeutic relationship and believe therapy works best when the therapist and client are partners in exploring the client’s inner world together. My approach is empathic and curious, while also direct, and I try to incorporate warmth and humor into the session. Through the therapeutic process, I seek to empower my clients to take control of their actions and behaviors, and to understand the “why” behind certain feelings and repeated cycles.

I received my M.A. in Clinical Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and training at Airport Marina Counseling Service, where I gained experience working with acute and complex trauma, grief support, crisis work, life stage development and transitions, and group counseling. I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which means I have completed intensified year long training and supervision in my work with couples. I am a member of the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy and attend continuous trainings and supervision throughout the year.

In addition to working with couples and individuals in Private Practice, I volunteer at Teen Line, a non-profit nationwide teen help hotline based out of the Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, providing support and supervision to professionally trained teen counselors.
